PTERYGIUM SURGERY

A pterygium is a non-cancerous growth of tissue on the conjunctiva, the thin, transparent membrane that covers the white part of the eye. It often develops as a result of excessive exposure to UV light, wind, dust, or dry conditions. While a pterygium may not always cause symptoms, it can lead to irritation, redness, and in some cases, affect vision if it grows over the cornea. Pterygium surgery involves removing the abnormal tissue and grafting healthy tissue onto the affected area to prevent recurrence and restore the health and comfort of the eye.
